Ok, So i've been watching ECW recently and theres a new(ish) guy called Colin Delaney.
This guy does not look like a typical wrestler, he is very pale, not in any kind of shape, small, about 5-9 200lbs, just like a normal guy who has been picked off of the street. i could find out more about him, but i cant be bothered, thats not the point.
Anyway, i just wanted to give some praise here, not to him in particular, but to ecw creative.
I like how this new angle is develloping, its kinda a nice throwback to the original ecw and Mickey Whipwreck, and i know everybodys probabally thinking it, i just wanna put across my feelings about this.
the guy gets introduced by Tazz before his first few matches, which means, from the start that Colin is no ordinary jobber. it would appear that young mr Delaney would continue to take a routine beating, picking up more and more bandages as souvenirs as he goes along.
Plenty of squash matches later and it would appear that a story is slowly building here, and just as a connexion with the original ecw is made, its none other than the classic Tommy Dreamer who comes to his aid, against Miz and Morrison.
Giving credit all around here, this story rates a solid 4 or 5 out of 5 stars. and i am really impressed with the work that has gone on here. look at it this way...
Miz and Morrison are going over fairly well, building their reputation and move sets, putting over finishing moves, winning (albeit easy) matches cleanly because they shouldn't have to cheat really, and these two are really proving to be good tag team champs. note, these two are now fighting twice a week, selling t-shirts, and have their own segment on wwe.com.
The Tag belts here are gaining a higher level of prestige also, and whoever finally wins the titles from the new MNM, will get a nice push.
Tommy Dreamer is benefitting from this, he is truely playing to his stregnths in this storyline, it involves teamwork, training up younger guys, putting people over, but he is also kicking ass off of champions, fighting with heart soul and passion, classic Tommy Dreamer, classic ECW stuff.
Colin Delaney, well i now know his name, he's getting great exposure with wwe, i'm sure he'd be happy just being a 1 off jobber, but he's starting to talk about championships and knocking up wins, working with some great performers, this is probabally the best time of his entire life, and good for him.
The ECW brand is really picking up, its got something good here, the original ECW fans would be happy with this throwback, and it is good to watch for the new generation of fans.
I'd try to think of some bad things to say, but i honestly cannot think of any.
