This week for That's My Story and I'm Sticking To It I'll be telling you who I think the winners will be at Vengeance.
Vengeance is "The night of Champions" and with every match being a title match it's obviously a good card that might be worth the $40 it cost to watch the PPV. The PPV will also features fresh matches and feuds as a results of the draft. Speaking of the draft, there's one draft pick in particular that proved they are more then capable to get over on any show and that draft pick is Mr. Kennedy...Kennedy. If you seen the promo Kennedy did in the ring this past week on Raw you might know what I'm talking about. Raw is a live show so the crowd reaction can't be edit and when Kennedy made his way to the ring the crowd was cheering for him but by the time he left the ring the crowd was booing him. That's the mark of a true star because very few wrestlers can have the crowd in the palm of their hand the way Kennedy did this past week on Raw. I know I've said it numerous times but Kennedy will be a major star in the WWE in the future. Kennedy has mic skills very similar to The Rock and Kennedy has said in interviews one of his influences to be a wrestler was Stone Cold Steve Austin so how can you go wrong with that combination? With all the tools needed to be a star Kennedy will definitely be a future World champion. That being said, let's get to some predictions for the PPV.
The Women's title match probably won't be a thirty minute classic but it might be an okay match. It's tough to pick a winner for this match because Candice has defeated Melina a few times the past few weeks on Raw and Melina has been the Women's champion for months so she might retain the title. I'll pick Candice to win the title and I think the feud will continue after the PPV but if Melina retains a Melina/Mickie James match for the title might be a good match.
The Cruiser Weight title match should be a good match and if the WWE gives it enough time it has the potential to be a great match. When I attended Smackdown last month I seen Chavo v.s. Wang and it was obvious that the match wasn't given enough time to develop into the great match it could have been. That seems to be the case with the Cruiser Weight division in general because the WWE doesn't make the title important and there really aren't that many feuds in the Cruiser Weight division. I think Chavo will retain the title and I think the Cruiser Weight title will continue to seem like a less important title on Smackdown.
The World Tag Team title match could be an okay match and it will be interesting to see what feuds there will be for the titles after the PPV. I'll pick Cage and Murdoch to retain because they just won the titles after losing to The Hardys at previous PPVs but I think it would be cool if The Hardys won the titles. If The Hardys win the titles it would be cool to see a Hardys/London and Kendrick feud for the tag titles. It seems like during the past few months the WWE has actually put some effort into rebuilding the tag division after a few years of lack luster tag champions and now it seems like there's some legitimate tag teams on Raw.
The U.S, title match should be a good match and I think it's obvious that MVP will retain the title. As with the Beniot feud, I think MVP will defeat Flair to help push MVP but it doesn't really matter if Flair loses a match because at this point he doesn't have anything left to prove. Ric Flair quite simply could be the greatest wrestler of all time and I think he deserves another title run. Flair can make anyone look good in the ring and that's one of the reasons why it's difficult for someone to argue that he might not be the greatest of all time. I think an Edge/Flair feud for the title would be a great feud and it will be interesting to see who challenges for the World title after the PPV.
Has anyone noticed how less important the IC title seems since Santino Marella won the title? Umaga won't win the title because he already had a run as champion and I'm not too impressed with Santino's reign as IC champion so far but it seems like there might be a Regal/Marella feud for the title in the future. Regal has a very unique style and he's one of the most underrated wrestlers in the WWE. He helped both Tajari and Eugene get over with the crowd and that might be why there could be a Regal/Marella feud to help get Marella over with the crowd. If there's a Regal/Marella feud for the IC title I think it would be cool to see Regal win the title because as I said, I'm not too impressed with Marella's run as IC champion.
The ECW title match could be match of the night and it can also be considered some what of a technical wrestling dream match. I've said it in the past Chris Beniot should be a main eventer and as a result of the draft Beniot is in the main event picture in ECW. ECW needed a legitimate main eventer and the draft provided ECW with Beniot, who is a former World Heavy Weight champion. CM Punk has a bright future a head of him but I don't think he's ready to be the ECW champion because besides mostly squash matches, what has Punk done in ECW? If Beniot is the champion he could give some credibility to the title and then if Punk defeats Beniot to win the title it could help make CM Punk a legitimate champion. I'll pick Chris Beniot to win the title and I think the feud should continue after the PPV.
The World Heavy Weight title match will probably be a terrible match and let's just all hope the Batista isn't wrestling in a title match at the next PPV. I've said all that can really be said about a Batista/Edge title match so I'll just say I think Edge will retain the title.
The WWE title match could be a good match but I think it's obvious that Cena will retain the title. It's always cool to see Mick Foley wrestle at a PPV but let's be honest here, he's lost almost every match he's had the past few years so he probably won't win the title. Orton has been getting a steady push but internet sites have reported that he will feud with Triple H when he returns to the ring and I don't think Orton will win the title because even though he's been getting a steady push it isn't exactly been a push to win the title. Booker T has his run as champion and considering it wasn't exactly a good run I don't think he will win the title. Bobby Lashley won't win the title because if the WWE was going to have him be a champion he wouldn't have been drafted to Raw. The match is basically another way to continue to Cena's super man type push after he defeated The Great Khali and it will be interesting to see who will challenge for the WWE title after the PPV.
Overall I think Vengeance will be a good PPV.
Until next week
