This is my review on this weeks edition of ECW.
Opening with Teddy Long and Tiffany was great. They didn't waste time, got straight to it. Teddy going on about how he contacted Shane and Stephanie about the scramble, then getting straight into the first bout of the night.
We then saw Matt Hardy take on John Morrison for a place in the championship scramble at Unforgiven.
This was a great way to kick off ECW, back and forth action between the two guys, near fall after near fall, the amount of times they countered one anothers finishers kept you on the edge of your seat.
Once Matt got rolling, it was only a matter of time before he would be in the running for another title shot. After a reversal of the moonlight drive Matt pulled Morrison in for the twist of fate, and his ticket to Unforgiven.
10/10 perfect way to kick off ECW.
We then saw, once again T-Lo and his beautiful assistant Tiffany talking about Matt's impressive win, and then Mark Henry came in to complain about the scramble.
What is the point of Tony Atlas? The most he said was less than a line and that wasn't even in the same breath. Pointless.
Then we saw The Miz take on the undefeated Evan Bourne for a place in the scramble, in what was a great match. Evan is nothing short of an impressive athelete, and I'm a fan of both those guys and Miz really proved himself that hes more than just a tag team wrestler he can work well in singles competition aswell. A mixed match-up, different styles clashed in this one. Back and forth, but the self proclaimed chick magnet done something other superstars couldn't do in the past and beat Evan Bourne after preventing Bourne from pulling off what looked like a hurricarana off the top rope, landing in a very uncomfortable position, and Miz took advantage hit the reality check 1,2,3 it was over.
8/10 nice, second bout of the evening. Entertaining.
We then saw another qualifier match between Chavo Guerrero and Tommy Dreamer. Very mixed, back and forth and slow paced match between the two former ECW Champions. Ending with a slight distraction from Neely, Chavo climbed to the top rope, and hit the frog splash, and earn his way into Unforgiven, and possibly another ECW title reign.
8/10
Then the last match-up of the night, Finlay taking on his rival Mike Knox for the final spot in the scramble. This was a great match between two of ECW's hardest hitters. Impressive display of strength between the two. After a quick distraction by a shilelaigh first time around and Knox attemping to use it, the ref saw this, and got it out of the ring but Hornswoggle had another one up his sleeve, threw it to Finlay to knock Knox out while the ref was distracted, then Finlay took the final spot in the scramble.
9.5/10
Overall this weeks edition of ECW gets an impressive 9.8/10. An action packed ECW, and gives great hype for Unforgiven next sunday night.
Quick notes.
Matt Striker and Todd Grisham work brilliantly as an announce team. A great way for announcers of the future to shine.
ECW can get through so much within an hour, its brilliant. They get down to business and waste little time.
Tiffany should get more TV time. Nuff said.
