Aston Villa suffered a 2-1 defeat in their friendly match against Swiss club FC Zurich on Saturday.
Almen Abdi put FC Zurich ahead after Martin Laursen had felled Florian Stahel in the box.
But Gabriel Agbonlahor levelled for the visitors in the 17th minute with a low angled drive.
However, Abdi gave Zurich the win when slotting home his second from the spot with 11 minutes to go after Zat Knight had brought down Admir Mehmedi.
Summer signing Steve Sidwell made his first appearance in a Villa shirt following his switch from Chelsea, playing the first 45 minutes.
