I just read at this link
entertainment.uk.msn.com/celebrity/news/Article.aspx?cp-documentid=8799495
that there are serious doubts about a Friends movie. Now, I will take apart this "news" article and look at it not from a fans point of view, or from WB's point of view.
Firstly "There's no way Jen, or really any of the others, would want to do this," an unnamed source told the US edition of OK!
"They've all spent the last four years trying to distance themselves from these iconic characters. This would be seen as a crass cash-in."
OK, it has been four years but don't you think that they would love to work together again? And yes, the money would be a major factor as they were getting a rumoured 1mUSD per episode.
Next - "But Friends exists in that sitcom world where 23 minutes is exactly how long you can stand these people for at a time."
Yes, that is why, whenever they are shown on E4, there is always two episodes and that also explains the HUGE DVD sales of Friends' DVDs that are only purchased so the owners can sit and watch as many episodes in a row as they want.
These were sources from the US OK! magazine. What do they know? They just needed to fill a page so they put this filler in.
Until one or more of the main cast GUARANTEES that there won't be a movie, one will always be rumoured, no matter what the press and other sources say.
Finally - "Jayne Trotman, director of publicity at Warner Bros in the UK, told the BBC that "there was no truth in the story," while Courteney and Matthew's publicists also denied the rumours."
Could have been done for shock value when one is announced and as for Courtney and Matthew's publicists, they could be holding their cards closely to their chests.
