The party lasted long into the night on December 23rd. An almost five year journey ended for "The Notorious 187" Homicide by pinning Bryan Danielson and capturing the ROH World Title. Now that the celebration is over, the reign of Homicide is taking shape.
Homicide has already stated that he will be a fighting champion. He wants to defend the belt on every show. Larry Sweeney has immediately proven his competence as Chris Hero's super agent. Sweeney has secured the open contract for Homicide's first title defense. It will be Homicide vs. Hero for the ROH World Title on January 26th in Braintree, MA. Hero took Homicide to the limit at "In Your Face" last June. Now with Sweeney in his corner he is a definite threat to the belt.
In a surprising move, Homicide's recent tag partner Samoa Joe has signed to compete for the belt on January 27th in Edison, NJ. Samoa Joe is famous for his 21 month reign as ROH World Champion. Joe's title run featured a legendary feud against Homicide. If Homicide can make it past Hero, the roles will be reversed and Joe will challenge Homicide. Joe knows what it means to be champion. This will be an epic match. Could Joe be the first two time ROH World Champion?
Jimmy Rave is on a rampage with his new heal hook submission. Before the World Title Match on December 23rd, Rave challenged the winner to face him on February 16th in Manhattan. Homicide has taken this as a direct insult feeling that Rave has called him out in his own hometown. It will be Homicide vs. Rave on 2/16 at the Manhattan Center and if Homicide is still champion the belt will be on the line.
ROH officials are currently negotiating several other big title matches for the Fifth Year Festival. ROH officials are very hopeful of getting an international challenger for 2/17 in Philadelphia. Others petitioning for World Title shots and given top consideration are Nigel McGuinness, Colt Cabana, BJ Whitmer, Delirious, Jimmy Jacobs and Davey Richards.
The road of Homicide tested "The Notorious 187" to the extreme, but ended in the biggest victory celebration in ROH history. Now the test is just getting tougher as the reign of Homicide begins on January 26th in the Boston area.
